DAY 1 RECEPCIÓN EN CUSCO – EXCURSIÓN CITY TOUR

The 6-day Machu Picchu tour will start with a personal greeting at the Cusco airport by your guide and driver, who will take you to your hotel in Cusco. Once at the hotel, you can relax and enjoy a cup of coca-leaf tea and have lunch (not included) at one of the local restaurants before the afternoon tour of Cusco.

At 1:30 pm, you will regroup with your tour guide and private transportation to explore the Inca capital. The 4-hour tour will take you to Cusco’s prominent historical sites, such as the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán, and the sacred Incan pilgrimage site of Q’enqo. Your guide will also accompany you around the famous San Pedro market and Plaza de Armas before returning you to your hotel by 6 pm.

The Sacred Valley tour begins at 7:30 am with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. After a 1-hour drive, you’ll participate in a short cultural tour with the local community and their alpacas in Chinchero. Your guide will then take you around the local market and the Colonial Temple.

Next, you’ll visit the circular, agricultural platforms of Moray, an experimental and research center of the Incas due to its unique microclimate and surrounding mountains. Then, you’ll travel a short distance to the salt mines of Maras, a unique collection of stepped salt terraces fed by an irrigation channel. Your guide will explain the traditional salt harvesting practices and the historical importance of the salt mines to the region.

In the afternoon, you’ll explore the natural beauty of Urubamba, the largest town in the Sacred Valley, which will also be your lunch destination for the day.

The text describes a lunch option, followed by a visit to the town of Ollantaytambo, where you’ll explore the local markets and an impressive Inca fortress. After that, you’ll take a train ride to Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu, where your guide will escort you to your hotel.

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you in the lobby and accompany you to the bus station. You will then board the tourist bus for a 30-minute scenic ride up the mountainside to the entrance of the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu. Once inside, your personal tour guide will lead you on a 3-hour exploration of the site’s rich history, taking you through the famous landmarks such as the Temple of the Sun, the Central Plaza, and the stepped terraces. Along the way, you’ll have ample opportunities to capture stunning panoramic photos from the viewpoint. Before descending the mountain, your guide will give you time to wander the sanctuary on your own and discover its mysteries. After the bus ride back to Aguas Calientes, you’ll have the option to enjoy lunch at one of the town’s restaurants before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo.

A driver will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, and the journey will take around 2 hours, arriving at approximately 6:30 pm. Additionally, you can opt to climb either Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain after the guided tour of the Inca ruins, but this will incur an additional cost of $70 USD per person and will involve an extra 2 hours of hiking. In this case, the return to Cusco will be on a later train, and the arrival time in Cusco will be around 8:30 pm.

The Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley tour starts with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5am. You will be taken by private transportation on a 2-hour drive through the beautiful towns and valleys of the Peruvian Andes until you reach the town of Cusipata. Here, you will stop for a delicious breakfast in a local restaurant surrounded by the stunning mountain range.

After breakfast, your driver will take you another 90 minutes up the valley to the start of the hike. Your guide will accompany you as you begin the hike at an elevation of 4,650 m / 15,255 ft. If you don’t want to hike the 90-minute trail to the first viewpoint, you can hire a horse to carry you for the first hour up the trail to the viewpoint. However, if you want to reach the highest viewpoint at 5,040 m / 16,535 ft, you will need to hike the final 20 minutes on foot to the summit.

The mountains surrounding Vinicunca display a spectacular range of colors, including shades of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. These hills, known as the Red Valley, get their distinctive hue from the presence of iron oxide in the rock. Visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of this deep red mountain range by hiking to the Mirador del Valle Rojo, accompanied by a guide for an additional 30 minutes. This quieter trail offers a more exclusive experience compared to the popular Rainbow Mountain. After taking in the stunning scenery and capturing plenty of photos, you will descend the mountain with your guide, who will then transport you back to Cusipata for a well-deserved rest and lunch. The final part of the tour is a 2-hour drive back to your hotel in Cusco, where you will arrive around 4 pm.

The Humantay Lagoon tour begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5am. You’ll be transported in a private vehicle for 2 hours and 30 minutes through the lush Apurímac River valley, until reaching the mountain town of Mollepata at 2,803 meters (9,200 feet). There, you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant before continuing the journey. After breakfast, the driver will take you another 90 minutes up the valley to Soraypampa at 3,850 meters (12,631 feet). From there, your guide will lead you on a 90-minute hike up the mountain pass to the turquoise waters of Humantay Lagoon at 4,180 meters (13,714 feet). Alternatively, you can opt to hire a horse to carry you to the viewpoint. The glacial Humantay Lagoon is situated across from the famous Salkantay pass, and on a clear day, its crystal-clear blue waters reflect the breathtaking snow-capped Humantay mountain.

After capturing souvenir photos of the Andes, you will depart Humantay with a deep sense of calm and tranquility. Once you’ve filled your heart with joy and savored your time at Humantay, your guide will lead you back down the valley to the car in Soraypampa. From there, you’ll return to the restaurant in Mollepata to enjoy a well-earned lunch surrounded by the stunning panoramic views of the Apurimac valley. When you’re ready, your driver will then transport you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 4 pm.

You’ll have breakfast at your hotel in Cusco to start the sixth day. Afterward, your driver will pick you up and bring you to the Cusco airport with enough time to catch your return flight to Lima.
